CEO Rick Frisbie Published in InvestmentNews
On the 12th of May, CEO Rick Frisbie of RobustWealth was published in InvestmentNews, a leading news source for financial advisors. The article, titled “What advisers actually want from robos” discusses the recent rise of robo-advisor platforms and what financial advisors expect from them. Rick predicts which features will help robos “win”, the most important being: “1. Tax and volatility cognizant rebalancing engines (the ‘robo’) coupled with institutional quality investment models and customizable goal-and-risk based investment frameworks and 2. An integrated suite of features to run their business, which can be deployed painlessly.”
Rick continues by citing other crucial features of robo-advisor platforms according to those who use them. Private label and open architecture are key features, allowing advisors to keep their business and brand at the center of the platform while keeping advisors’ choices free. It is also important to have “no master switch” as Rick explains, because every client is unique and may or may not want robo on for their account. Robos should be designed with the industry in mind; they should rebalance, trade, and take pressure off of the advisor. Rick writes: “a truly effective robo should be helmed by different teams that have both the proven investment acumen and technological prowess to build tax and volatility cognizant algorithms, which efficiently inform the trading execution.” Ultimately, robos should solve headaches and help the advisor succeed.
