RobustWealth Sponsors a Fundraiser for the Pastoralist Child Foundation
On Friday, September 30th, 2016, RobustWealth hosted a fundraiser in order to raise funds to support the Pastoralist Child Foundation (PCF). PCF is a New Jersey based non-profit organization that works to eradicate Female Genital Mutilation and support young girls’ education in Kenya. RobustWealth is happy to be able to host a fundraiser for such a worthy and important cause. The fundraiser was held at our headquarters in Lambertville, New Jersey. RobustWealth provided appetizers, an open bar and a BBQ dinner for all attendees. This fundraiser was aimed to help support the two girls, Faith and Gladwell, who PCF sponsored last year. PCF has helped them attend school and escape Female Genital Mutilation and early marriage. Below, you’ll find some more information regarding the Pastoralist Child Foundation:
The Pastoralist Child Foundation
Mission: To eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and forced childhood marriages of marginalized girls and young women in Samburu and Maasai Mara Counties, Kenya, through educational workshops and sponsorships for girls to attend secondary boarding schools.
History: Pastoralist Child Foundation (PCF) was jointly founded by Sayydah Garrett (USA) and Samuel Siriria Leadismo (Kenya). The connection was made by Sayydah during a safari to Kenya in August, 2012 when she visited Namayiana Village in Samburu. When Sayydah showed her pictures to an assistant restaurant captain, Samuel Siriria Leadismo, he commented that this was his village. Samuel talked passionately about the harmful vices in his community, stating that he wanted to eradicate female genital mutilation, forced marriages, and improve life for his own sisters and young girls in his village and country.
Together, Sayydah and Samuel decided right then and there to found Pastoralist Child Foundation. Samuel appointed Sayydah as “Founder & President” to which she responded, “Ok!” Samuel, an educated and highly respected member of his tribe, the Samburu Black Cattle clan, is the very first Samburu warrior in history to start an organization to eradicate FGM. He has seen the pain and suffering brought on by FGM and forced early marriage, as well as the power of education to lift people emotionally, socially and economically.
